NEW LONDON, NH (05/27/2010)(readMedia)-- Tamworth resident Anthony Thomas Marrone graduated from Colby-Sawyer College on May 8, 2010. A Studio Art major with a concentration in Ceramics, Marrone was recognized with the Baccalaureate Award.

The Baccalaureate Awards honor graduating students who are chosen by the faculty and who have shown the highest degree of dedication in their fields of study.

Marrone modeled excellence in all of his academic work, especially in his innovative ceramics creations. He displayed his work this spring in a show titled: "Form and Function in Clay: A Solo Exhibition by Anthony Marrone '10," as well as for Annual the Senior Art Exhibition, for which he exhibited 21 pieces, including vases, dinnerware sets and bowls.

"I enjoy the process of creating art directly from the mud of the earth," he says.

Professor of Fine and Performing Arts Jon Keenan, who served as Marrone's advisor, said, "Anthony is always striving to improve, a quality that leads him to new discoveries and higher levels of achievement. His ceramics, primarily high-fired sculptural and thrown functional vessels, are skillfully created and combine a keen understanding of materials and aesthetic beauty."
