CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Taylor Almond of Cape Girardeau, Mo., is among a select group of elite Southeast Missouri State University undergraduates chosen to participate in a five-day seminar in Washington, D.C., during spring break March 11-16, learning about global issues in business, the environment and politics at the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Students selected for the opportunity were required to demonstrate leadership involvement on and off campus, academic excellence or both.

Participants for the trip were nominated by faculty members and selected by University administrators, including Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins, Southeast Provost Ronald Rosati, deans and regional campus directors.

Almond is studying for a major in historic preservation with a minor in history. She is a junior at Southeast and wants to pursue education at the college level.

Almond is the daughter of Todd and Tina Almond of Galesburg, Mich. She was a 2006 graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson, Mo.
