Tempe native commits to Biola University

Mikaela Martin, a distance runner at Horizon Honors HS, commits to Southern California program.

LA MIRADA, CA (02/20/2014)(readMedia)-- Tempe, Ariz. --- Cross Country and Track standout Mikaela Martin signed her commitment to run for the Eagles next fall. Martin is coming from Horizon Honors High School where she finished in the top 10 at the IV Cross Country Championships twice, and she ran a 19:11 in the cross country 5k race.

"We are pretty fired up to get Mikaela as she is just so solid for us both as a scholar and an athlete," said Biola Track & Field and Cross Country Coach Jonathan Zimmerman. "I was very impressed with her demeanor and attitude, and glad she did her 'homework' so well and ended up going with BU."

Martin plans to major in kinesiology for the purpose of going into a career in occupational therapy.
