The Adjutant General of Illinois receives Legion of Merit

SPRINGFIELD, IL (04/02/2014)(readMedia)-- SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Brig. Gen. Daniel Krumrei of Springfield, Ill., Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard, was awarded the Legion of Merit at the Capitol Building in Springfield, Ill., April 1.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn presented the award for exceptionally meritorious service as the State Command Chaplain of the Illinois National Guard from Sept. 1, 2009 through Dec. 20, 2012.

As the citation states, Krumrei distinguished himself by exceptional duty performance, powerful leadership, inventive problem solving and demonstrating extraordinary talents. His performance immeasurably helped improve the life of the Illinois National Guard Soldiers and families.

The Legion of Merit is awarded to members of the Armed Forces of the United States for exceptional meritorious performance and outstanding services and achievements.

The Legion of Merit is the U.S. military's sixth highest award.
