"The Importance of Being Earnest" launches Berkshire Country Day School's 2015/2016 Theater Season

STOCKBRIDGE, MA (10/30/2015)(readMedia)-- On Friday November 6 and Saturday November 7, Berkshire Country Day's Upper School Theater Ensemble will present a new adaptation of the uproarious comedy, "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde.

When two distinguished gentleman begin bending the truth in order to put some excitement in their lives, things begin to go awry! Manners, mix-ups and mistaken identity collide in this uproarious farce that pokes fun at the upper crust of Victorian society. The play features an ensemble of Berkshire Country Day students spanning grades 7 through 9, as well as a professional guest artist.

Each year, the Upper School Theater Ensemble presents three full-length productions including original and devised performances, interdisciplinary collaborations, and significant classical and contemporary works. Upcoming productions for the 2016 performance season include "Pan Remixed," an original piece written and devised by the students, and "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare.

"Berkshire Country Day School's theater program is incredibly unique", says Importance of Being Earnest director, Sara Katzoff. "The caliber of creativity, enthusiasm and curiosity that the students bring to each production is extraordinary. It is all part of the thriving community of artists, citizens and scholars that is so present in the culture of BCD."

"The Importance of Being Earnest" runs Friday, November 6 at 7 pm and Saturday, November 7 at 2 pm and 7 pm. Audiences are invited to join the ensemble and creative team for a post-show discussion following each performance.

All performances take place at Boston University's Winthrop Theater, 45 West Street, in Lenox, MA. There is a suggested donation at the door.
