ANNVILLE, PA (10/30/2014)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Guitar Ensemble and Studio will perform its annual concert on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Lutz Recital Hall of the Blair Music Center. The group features all music majors who have guitar as their primary instrument as well as a few non-guitar majors. The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert features a number of diverse tunes including Classical, Jazz, and Fusion genres. The recital has something for everyone; listeners will recognize the distinctive works by Franz Schubert, Charles Mingus, Paul Desmond, and many others.

The primary ensemble includes five guitar and bass guitars performing on acoustic and electric guitars as well as three smaller ensembles containing trios and quartets on acoustic guitars.

The ensemble is under the direction of Joseph Mixon, LVC adjunct instructor of music. He studied with jazz guitarists Vic Juris, Tony Ventura, Dennise Sandoli, and classical guitarist Joseph Mayes. He is the house guitarist at The Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pa. Mixon appears regularly at Hershey Park, Musikfest, Steel Stacks, and Mayfair. He is an international teacher and concert artist in Costa Rica, Nepal, and India. He is also the founder and director of RPM Music Productions.
