The spring's final Fisheries and Wildlife talk to take place Friday

PAUL SMITHS, NY (04/02/2012)(readMedia)-- A fisheries expert will round off the spring's Fisheries and Wildlife Seminar Series at Paul Smith's College.

Donna Parrish, the unit leader of the U.S. Geological Survey's Vermont Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, will speak Friday, April 6, about the potential effects of changing climate on downstream Atlantic salmon migration.

As a scientist in the Vermont Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, Parrish mentors graduate students on fisheries research projects. Over the last 20 years, her research has focused on three ecosystems within Vermont: Lake Champlain, the Connecticut River and the Batten Kill. She has led research on trophic interactions, anadromous fish migration and population modeling of trout, among many others.

The talk is free and open to the public and will be held from 10:10-11 a.m. in the college's Pine Room, which is in the Joan Weill Student Center.

The Fisheries and Wildlife Seminar Series at Paul Smith's College will resume in fall 2012, with a new slate of speakers from the world of fisheries and wildlife biology.
