Thruway Announces Limited Truck Parking at Junius Ponds Travel Plaza

Pavement Resurfacing Begins August 2

ALBANY, NY (07/30/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that a pavement resurfacing project at the Junius Ponds Travel Plaza will result in limited truck parking beginning Monday morning, August 2, 2010, weather permitting.

The Junius Ponds Travel Plaza is located at milepost 324 on westbound I-90, between Interchange 41 (Waterloo, Clyde, Route 414) and 42 (Geneva, Lyons, Route 14).

Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, August, 2, Authority forces will close half of the west parking area designated for trucks and tractor-trailers for approximately seven days for concrete repaving. Truck parking will be reduced from 26 spots to 13.

Monday, August 9, the completed section will be reopened and the other half of the lot will then be closed for repaving. Work on the second section of the lot is expected to be completed by noon Monday, August 16.

The Authority will activate a Variable Message Sign (VMS) to alert motorists about the project at the Junius Ponds Travel Plaza. Westbound commercial drivers may wish to consider seeking parking space at the Warners Travel Plaza at milepost 292 or the Seneca Travel Plaza at milepost 350.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding while this essential work takes place.
