Thruway Authority Announces All Lanes Blocked at North Grand Island Bridge

Motorists Advised to Plan for Delays and Seek Alternate Routes

ALBANY, NY (10/14/2008)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority announced that all lanes on the North Grand Island Bridge located on I-190 are currently blocked due to a serious personal injury accident. Motorists are advised to plan for an extended bridge closure.

At this time, northbound traffic is being directed off I-190 at Exit 20 (Long Road).

Motorists are advised to plan for delays and motorists familiar with the area are advised to seek alternate routes.

State Police and emergency crews are on the scene at this time. At lease one lane will be reopened as soon as conditions safely permit.

The Authority has activated its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR), Dynamic Message Systems (DMS) and issued a TRANSalert to subscribers to alert motorists to the closure.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding during this time.
