Thruway Authority Announces Brief Traffic Stops Near Catskill Interchange 21

ALBANY, NY (06/19/2009)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that rock slope repairs at Interchange 21 (Catskill) will require brief traffic stops on Monday, June 22, 2009, and Tuesday, June 23, 2009, weather permitting.

During the scheduled project, Authority maintenance crews will perform rock slope repairs at the northbound exit ramp of Interchange 21 (Catskill - Route 23B) at Milepost 113.7. Periodic traffic stoppages will take place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at various times during the day. The stoppages are expected to last no longer than five minutes each. Motorists are advised that they may experience residual traffic delays as a result of the stoppages.

The Authority will activate its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) to advise motorists of the stoppages. Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will also be posted in advance of the area to provide motorists with notice of the required traffic stoppages.

As always, motorists are reminded to remain alert and aware of their surroundings while traveling through the construction work zone. Motorists should also keep in mind that fines for speeding are doubled in construction work zones.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding as this essential highway improvement project takes place.
