Thruway Authority Announces Brief Traffic Stops Near Interchange 28 (Fultonville)

ALBANY, NY (03/19/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that a bridge replacement project, at the Interchange 28 (Fultonville, Fonda, Route 30A) ramp bridge over the Thruway, will require brief traffic stops to remove steel girders on Monday, March 22, 2010, weather permitting.

On Monday morning, beginning at 9 a.m., New York State Police Troop T will stop traffic three separate times in the eastbound direction, approximately one mile west of Interchange 28. Once the work is completed eastbound, New York State Police Troop T will stop traffic three separate times in the westbound direction, approximately one mile east of Interchange 28. It is anticipated that these traffic stoppages will be brief, lasting no longer than five minutes, and are scheduled to be completed by 1 p.m.

The Authority will activate its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) to advise motorists of the stoppages. Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) have been posted in advance of the area to provide motorists with notice of the required traffic stoppages.

As always, motorists are reminded to remain alert and aware of their surroundings while traveling through the construction work zone. Motorists should also keep in mind that fines for speeding are doubled in construction work zones.

The $3.5 million project is being completed by Bette & Cring of Latham, New York, and is scheduled to be completed by November 2010.
