Thruway Authority Announces Fuel Services To Be Temporarily Suspended at Mohawk Travel Plaza

Restaurant and Restroom Services To Remain Available To Motorists

ALBANY, NY (07/31/2009)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority announced fuel services will be temporarily unavailable to motorists at the Mohawk Travel Plaza, located on I-90 eastbound between Interchanges 27 (Amsterdam) and 26 (Schenectady), at milepost 172, beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2009, due to a fuel service renovation project. The temporary suspension in service is expected to last until Friday morning, August 14, 2009.

During this renovation, only emergency fuel will be available. However, restroom and food services will continue to be available to motorists 24 hours a day at the travel plaza.

Prior to the Mohawk Travel Plaza and the preceding plaza at Indian Castle, signs will be posted along the Thruway alerting motorists to the temporary suspension in fuel services.

Eastbound motorists in need of fuel are advised the nearest available travel plaza before Mohawk will be at Indian Castle Travel Plaza, located approximately 38 miles west at milepost 210, near Interchange 29A (Little Falls).

The closest travel plaza with fuel services after Mohawk for eastbound motorists is 19 miles east at the Guilderland Travel Plaza at milepost 153, near Interchange 25 (Schenectady/I-890).

A complete list of Travel Plaza services is available on the Authority's website at www.nysthruway.gov/travelplazas/index.html.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this project.
