ALBANY, NY (07/16/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that as part of the ongoing renovation of Thruway Travel Plazas, fuel services will be temporarily unavailable at the New Baltimore Travel Plaza on northbound I-87 beginning Monday, July 19, 2010. The renovation project is slated for completion in early August.
The New Baltimore Travel Plaza, at milepost 127, serves both northbound and southbound motorists along I-87 between Interchange 21B (Coxsackie, Route 81, Route 9W) and Exit 21A (I-90 East, Massachusetts Turnpike). Only the northbound Travel Plaza will suspend fuel services during the construction. Full services remain available at the New Baltimore Travel Plaza on southbound I-87.
Restroom and restaurant facilities will remain open at the New Baltimore Travel Plaza North throughout the construction period.
Northbound travelers in need of fuel are advised to stop at the Malden Travel Plaza located at milepost 103, between Interchange 20 (Saugerties, Route 212) and Interchange 21 (Catskill, Cairo, Route 23B). The Malden Travel Plaza is about 24 miles south of the New Baltimore Travel Plaza.
Full fuel services are also available at the Pattersonville Travel Plaza on westbound I-90 at milepost 168, between Interchange 26 (Schenectady, I-890, Route 5S) and Interchange 27 (Amsterdam, Route 30). The Pattersonville Travel Plaza is about 41 miles beyond the New Baltimore Travel Plaza North.
The renovation of the facility, operated by the Lehigh Gas Corp., includes the replacement of the kiosk, fire suppression system, and fuel island concrete, and refurbishing the canopy.
