Thruway Authority Announces Nighttime Detours at Exit 3 Ramp in Yonkers;

Northbound I-87 Traffic to be Diverted, Wednesday, August 25

ALBANY, NY (08/24/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that an overnight detour will be posted for the northbound I-87 exit ramp at Exit 3 (Mile Square Road) in Yonkers for a construction project.

The scheduled closure of the exit ramp will take place from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, until 5 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 26. There will be additional weekday overnight closures through August 27, as needed, to complete the project. Originally, the work was scheduled on Monday, August 23, 2010, but was cancelled due to weather.

Motorists headed toward Mile Square Road, exiting I-87 northbound to Central Park Avenue at Exit 3, will be detoured to Central Park Avenue at Exit 2 (Yonkers Avenue).

Motorists headed toward the Cross County Shopping Center, exiting I-87 northbound to Central Park Avenue at Exit 3, will be detoured to Central Park Avenue at Exit 4 (Cross County Parkway).

During the project, Variable Message Signs will be activated and the Highway Advisory Radio will broadcast over 530 AM to alert motorists about the detours.

To minimize the disruption of traffic, this construction work is scheduled for weekday night hours when traffic volumes generally are lower.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding while this project takes place.
