Thruway Authority Announces Temporary Closure of Junius Ponds Travel Plaza

Restaurants, Restrooms, and Fuel Will Be Unavailable to Motorists

ALBANY, NY (02/16/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced Junius Ponds Travel Plaza, located on I-90 westbound between Interchange 41 (Waterloo) and 42 (Geneva) at milepost 324, will be closed temporarily beginning at 12:01 a.m., Thursday, February 18, 2010, due to necessary electrical upgrades.

While the upgrades are taking place, restaurants, restrooms and fuel services will be unavailable to motorists for approximately four hours. It is anticipated work will be completed by 4 a.m.

Westbound motorists in need of these services are advised to stop at Warners Travel Plaza, located approximately 32 miles prior to Junius Ponds Travel Plaza, between Interchange 39 (Route 690/Fulton) and Interchange 40 (Weedsport) at milepost 292.

The Authority will activate its Variable Message Signs (VMS) to inform westbound motorists of the temporary closure.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience while this necessary work takes place.
