Thruway Authority Announces Underused Buffalo Walk-In Center to Close
Closure Will Result in $400,000 Savings Annually
ALBANY, NY (08/06/2008)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that due to low customer volumes, and in an effort to continue cost containment initiatives to help reduce spending, it will be closing the Buffalo area Walk-In E-ZPass Service Center on Friday, September 5, 2008.
By closing the Buffalo area Walk-In Center, the Authority expects to save approximately $400,000 annually.
Customers can get an E-ZPass tag by visiting one of the E-ZPass On-the-Go retail locations in the Greater Buffalo Region. With more than 220 On-the-Go locations in the Greater Buffalo Region, customers can easily locate the nearest On-the-Go locations by visiting www.nysthruway.gov/ezpass/otg/index.html.
E-ZPass On-the-Go tags are pre-packaged passenger car tags that can be purchased for $25 with a major credit card, cash or check. Once registered, the full $25 is moved to the customer's E-ZPass account.
Customers can also utilize the E-ZPass website (www.e-zpassny.com) to sign up for a new account, download an application, maintain their existing accounts, including viewing toll and payment history, account balance, reporting a tag lost or stolen, requesting a tag, adding or deleting vehicles from the account, and update credit card information. Customers can also call the E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 1-800-333-8655 with any questions about E-ZPass. E-ZPass applications are also available at Thruway toll plazas.
The Authority reminds E-ZPass customers that the Grand Island Walk-In Center located at 2293 Grand Island Boulevard, Grand Island, will remain open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
