Thruway Authority to Continue Tappan Zee Bridge Deck Replacement Project
The New York State Thruway Authority announced deck replacement work on the Tappan Zee Bridge will continue during the week of February 1, 2010. Next week's scheduled work will be performed during the day, no night work has been scheduled. All daytime work will be done underneath the bridge or within the Thruway Authority's regularly scheduled daytime maintenance lane closures.
All work is weather-dependent and subject to change. Updates will be issued announcing any change in schedule.
For the safety of the public and construction workers, motorists are urged to proceed with caution and obey posted work-zone speed limits. Work will proceed weather-permitting, and schedule updates will be announced as needed.
Traffic updates will be broadcast to motorists via Variable Message Signs along the highway and by Highway Advisory Radio, 530 AM in the Tappan Zee Bridge corridor, as well as 1610 AM in the Newburgh area.
Weather permitting, the deck replacement project is slated for completion in the Winter of 2010.
