Tom Weisel Commissioned at Hampden-Sydney College Graduation

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Thomas Hans Weisel, Class of 2012, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army on May 13th during commencement ceremonies marking the end of the 237th academic year at Hampden-Sydney College.
Weisel was commissioned by Major Stephan Ruppel-Lee, assisted by Master Sergeant Jeff Suttle. Pinning his gold bars were his father, Eric Weisel of Saluda, and his mother, Kathleen King of Virginia Beach. Lt. Weisel received his first salute from Master Sergeant Jeff Suttle.
Weisel graduated with a B.A. in history. A Patrick Henry Scholar, he was a member of the ROTC program through the University of Richmond and completed Hampden-Sydney's requirement for the Military Leadership/National Security Studies program. Weisel was a member of the Rugby Club, the Garnet & Grey Society (admissions tour guide), and the social fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. Weisel's first assignment will be with the Chemical Corps.
