Top Key Lime Bakers Earn Ribbons at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/20/2014)(readMedia)-- Christine Montalvo earned First Place Overall in the Key Lime Challenge contest judged Saturday at the 2014 Iowa State Fair. The Windsor Heights resident also took top honors in the Key Lime Dessert class.

Second Place Overall went to Natalie Ridgway of Johnston. Ridgway also earned first place in the Key Lime Cookies class while Cecilia Naughton of Nevada nabbed second.

In the Key Lime Dessert class, second place went to Diane Rauh of Des Moines, and Pamela Reynolds of Norwalk took third. Judges awarded an honorable mention to Keri Crowley of Indianola.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 226 divisions, 883 classes and over 10,500 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging was held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
