Top Tea Time Treats Win State Fair Awards

DES MOINES, IA (08/29/2023) (readMedia)-- Susie Jones of Winterset won First and Second Place Overall and a total of $250 in the Let's Have Tea Contest judged Thursday, August 17, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

In the Tea Cookie class, Susie Jones of Winterset won first place. Cyndy Erickson of Des Moines claimed second place, and Patty Hunt of Ankeny earned third place.

Susie Jones of Winterset won first place in the Tea Sandwich class. Margaret Stoffregen of Des Moines earned second place, and DeeDee Kennedy of Des Moines claimed third place.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging was held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
