Torrington Native Matthew Gorman Graduates From Stonehill College

EASTON, MA (05/23/2011)(readMedia)-- Torrington Native Matthew Gorman earned a bachelor of arts degree from Stonehill College in Easton, Masssachusetts at its 60th Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 22. During the ceremony, Gorman announced record participation in this year's Legacy Campaign, which will be used to support the new Farm at Stonehill. A total of 102 members from the senior class donated $7,260 towards a Class tree, meditation garden, washing station, scale, and other equipment for the Farm.
While at Stonehill, Gorman wore many hats as he was the Senior Class President and Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, "The Summit." He also worked as a student ambassador for the Admissions Office at Stonehill, greeting potential students on campus and guiding campus tours.
Gorman also secured impressive internships that complemented his course work and helped to pave the way for a future career in political life. In 2009, he interned for Michigan Congressman David Lee Camp in his Washington, D.C. office. This past semester, he interned for Free and Strong America PAC, Inc., Mitt Romney's political action committee which has now transitioned to Romney's Presidential Exploratory Committee as he eyes another run at the White House next year. Impressed by his ability, Romney's staff recently hired Gorman as a full-time war room intern for their Exploratory Committee.
