Tortillas Are the Featured Ingredient in State Fair Cooking Contest

DES MOINES, IA (08/29/2023) (readMedia)-- Connie Schaffer-Sherman of Pleasant HIll won first place and a $50 cash award in the It's A Wrap With Azteca Tortillas contest judged Thursday, August 17, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Lisa Baumhover of Woodward earned second place and $30. Cathy Stahlman of Boone claimed third place and $20.

Entries were judged on creative use of tortilla and taste.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging was held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
