Trevecca's King Selected Golfer of the Month

NASHVILLE, TN (11/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Trevecca Nazarene University freshman Kaylon King has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Month for women's golf. In the month of October, King helped carry the Trojans to two top-ten finishes, and at the same time established herself as someone to be watched in the spring and an early favorite for the Conference Medalist.

As the fall schedule came to a close, TNU took part in two tournaments, finishing 10th at the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Rome, Georgia, before closing out the fall at home with a fourth place finish at the TNU Nationwide Women's Invitational.

King earned top-ten finishes at each of the tournament as an individual, including a second place finish at the home TNU Nationwide Women's Invitational. Despite the different rankings - ninth at the Chick-Fil-A Classic - in the final standings, the performance was consistent, shooting a two-day total of 156 in each tournament.

Her day two scores of 76 at the Chick-Fil-A Classic, and 75 at the TNU Invitational placed her first and in a tie for second for the two lowest 18-hole rounds in the G-MAC during the fall schedule. Her two scores of 156 place her in a tie for first place, as the lowest 36-hole tournament scores. As she has posted two scores of 156, she is tied with only herself for first.

As a team, TNU now holds four of the top five 36-hole scores, including the top score of 671 at the Chick-Fil-A Classic (October 1-2, 2012).
