Tupelo's Haylee Fowler receives two scholarships from East Central University

Haylee Fowler, right of Tupelo, was the recipient of the Don and Ethel Clawson Scholarship and the Cephus Lawson Teacher Scholarship during East Central University Department of Education's recent 2018 Spring Awards Luncheon. The Don and Ethel Clawson Scholarship is awarded to an upperclassman who has been admitted to the teacher education program and who has maintained a minimum 3.0 grade-point average. Both Don and Ethel Clawson attended ECU and they established this scholarship to assist students who plan to enter the teaching profession. The Cephus Lawson Teacher Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior majoring in education with a minimum of a 3.0 grade-point average. This fund was established by the Lawson family in gratitude for the opportunity that ECU afforded their children to achieve college educations. They had five children, all of whom graduated from ECU. Pictured with Fowler is Dr. Phyllis Isaacs, chair of the ECU Department.
