Two Monmouth College women receive special recognition at Honors Convocation

MONMOUTH, IL (05/24/2018) Two Monmouth College women received special awards at the College's annual honors convocation on April 24.

Senior and Freshman Woman of the Year honors were awarded by the Tau Pi chapter of Mortar Board, a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for scholarship, leadership, service and scholarship.

Sarah Ellis of Chrisman, Ill., was named Senior Woman of the Year. Ellis was cited for upholding "the ideals of excellence in academics, leadership, involvement, service to her campus and greater community, drive, and professional attitude."

Ellis has served in several leadership roles as a member of her women's fraternity, Alpha Xi Delta, as well as several honor societies, including: Alpha Lambda Delta, Blue Key, Mortar Board, the Order of Omega and Sigma Beta Delta.

A member of Chorale, Ellis volunteers for a variety of community groups, and she played a key leadership role with the College's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and the Senior Class Gift Committee. An accounting and business major, she is the daughter of Matthew and Lisa Ellis of Chrisman.

Aspen Chadderdon of Marshalltown, Iowa, was honored as the Freshman Woman of the Year. A contributor to the soccer and lacrosse teams, she started every game in both sports and was named All-Midwest Conference in soccer.

In addition to her accomplishments on the field, Chadderdon excels in the classroom as a double major in biochemistry and physics double major. She is also involved with Campus Outreach, the White & Crimson Leadership Society and the Phi Delta Lambda honor society. She is the daughter of Abie and Penni Chadderdon of Marshalltown.
