HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/17/2013)(readMedia)-- Tyler Prescott Parham, a sophomore at Hampden-Sydney College, has been chosen Editor of The Garnet, the student literary magazine. The Garnet was first published in 1859 and offers students, faculty, staff, and members of the Hampden-Sydney community an opportunity to display their literary and artistic ability through poetry, short stories, essays, photography, and other art work.

Tyler is a member of the H-SC Big Brothers Mentor Program and the Tiger Athletic Club. A history major, Tyler is a graduate of Tunstall High School and is the son of Eddy & Lynda Parham of Danville.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
