UDallas Release: University of Dallas Cybersecurity Program Garners Numerous Rankings

IRVING, TX (12/20/2017) The cybersecurity program in the University of Dallas Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business was selected for Best Colleges' list of the "Top 25 Online Master's in Information Systems Security Programs for 2018." The program's recognition by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as convenient and flexible program options, helped the University of Dallas garner the No. 6 spot on the list. This ranking places the program No. 1 in Texas and sixth among other top schools such as Johns Hopkins University, the University of Southern California and Stevens Institute of Technology.

The institutional cyber ranking was designed to showcase schools that are "preparing students for essential roles in the field." According to the Best Colleges, the University of Dallas "stood out with an outstanding online cybersecurity program."

The nationwide ranking comes on the heels of other regional and national rankings for the cybersecurity program, including a No. 1 ranking on universities.com's list of the "Best Cybersecurity Colleges in Dallas/Fort Worth, 2017"; a No. 1 statewide and No. 15 national ranking on Cybersecurity Degrees' list of "The 25 Best Online Graduate Certificates in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, 2017"; and a top-five finish in Best Colleges' national rankings of the "Best Online Master's in Cybersecurity Programs, 2017."

The cybersecurity program is designed to prepare information security professionals with the tools to drive innovation and provide strategic cybersecurity management. Now in its 14th year as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education, so recognized by the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the program covers critical topics faced in the cybersecurity industry such as data protection, legal and compliance, penetration testing and digital forensics, among others.

Due to businesses' growing dependency on information security, employers are hiring cybersecurity professionals now more than ever. A recent report by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics projects that jobs for information security analysts will continue to rise, increasing 28 percent from 2016 to 2026 with median salaries exceeding $90,000.

The University of Dallas offers a 30-credit-hour Master of Science in cybersecurity, a 42-credit-hour MBA with a concentration in cybersecurity and an 18-credit-hour graduate certificate in cybersecurity, all available both online and on campus.
