USC Aiken Collects Books for Local Elementary School

AIKEN, SC (02/19/2018) University of South Carolina Aiken students are currently collecting books for local school children.

"The Black History Month Steering Committee is asking the entire USC Aiken and greater communities to donate books that were written or illustrated by African-American authors or feature African-American protagonists or heroes," said Taifha Baker, Assistant Director of Student Life - Diversity Initiatives.

The books will be donated to Aiken County Public Schools at the end of the month.

Books can be dropped off with Baker. Her office is located in the USC Aiken Student Activities Center. Donations are due Feb. 27 to ensure delivery.

EDITOR'S NOTE: USC Aiken students will deliver books to North Aiken Elementary School, Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. At that time, students from the university will take the opportunity to read to the younger ones. Media wishing to cover this event, should contact: news@usca.edu .
