USC Aiken Undergrads Showcase Summer Research

AIKEN, SC (08/03/2018) The University of South Carolina Aiken presented its inaugural Summer Scholars Institute, giving undergraduate students the opportunity to present the research they have conducted this summer with their faculty advisors.

Approximately 20 presenters from across all disciplines participated.

In total, scholars have received upwards of $50,000 for their summer research. Some of them earned biomedical grants from the National Institutes of Health as part of its Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence, or INBRE, program. The Department of Energy funded some of the USC Aiken undergraduates' summer research with Workforce Opportunities in Regional Careers, or WORC, grants. Additionally, some scholars received funding from local partners, including ADP, Augusta.

Some of these USC Aiken undergraduates will present their summer research during a symposium in Columbia later this month.
