Unique Sweets Win State Fair Titles

DES MOINES, IA (08/11/2018) (readMedia)-- Jamie Buelt of Polk City won First Place Overall in the Sweet To Eat competition judged Thursday at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

Participants were challenged to create a new and unique cake, cookie or pie.

Entries were judged on creativity, taste, neatness and difficulty.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 171 divisions, 727 classes and over 9,574 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
