'Unnecessary Farce' on stage Feb. 11 through 21 at Elizabethtown College

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (01/27/2016)(readMedia)-- Two cops. Three crooks. Eight doors. Go!

In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is to meet with his female accountant. In the next room, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on video. But there's some confusion as to who's in which room, who's being filmed, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes.

"Unnecessary Farce," an award-winning stage comedy by playwright Paul Slade Smith, will be performed at Elizabethtown College's Tempest Theatre beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11. The show continues at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12; Saturday, Feb. 13; Thursday, Feb. 18; and Friday, Feb. 19. There also is a performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21.

The production combines all the elements of classic farce with a contemporary American plot.
