Upcoming Crane School of Music Faculty Recital Includes World Premiere of Oboe Work

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music Hosts Faculty Recital Featuring Anna Hendrickson, Carol Lowe and François Germain on Oct. 11

POTSDAM, NY (09/29/2017) (readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music invites the public to enjoy a recital by faculty members Anna Hendrickson (oboe), Carol Lowe (bassoon) and François Germain (piano), to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.

Hendrickson and Germain will open the performance with Thomas F. Dunhill's 1944 piece, "Friendship's Garland, Op. 97," a suite of five miniatures for oboe and piano. Lowe will then present "Colored Stones," a 2014 work by Jenni Brandon for solo bassoon, including three movements inspired by three types of rocks and gems.

The performance will continue with the world premiere of "Sextet for Solo Oboe" by Crane Professor Emeritus Dr. Paul Steinberg, which he composed for Hendrickson in 2013. Lowe and Germain will then present "Aria," a 1982 work for bassoon and piano.

After a brief pause, the trio will take the stage together to close out the recital with Francis Poulenc's "Trio Pour Piano, Hautbois et Basson."

This concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
