Upcoming Event to Focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion In Healthcare

DANVILLE , IL (02/17/2020) (readMedia)-- The Developing Honor Society at Lakeview College of Nursing will be sponsoring an event that will focus on diversity, equity and inclusion in healthcare. Healthcare professionals and others are welcome to register and attend the event that will be held on Friday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lakeview College of Nursing located at 580 W. Lincoln Ave. in Charleston.

The topics for the event are planned to include Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act that prohibits discrimination, mindfully responding to victims of sexual assault, caring for impaired patients, and LGBT terminology and bedside patient care. The speakers will represent a variety of areas ranging from corporate compliance to clinical counseling and patient care.

"This event will be a wonderful opportunity for healthcare professionals to grow in their understanding and ability to care for others from diverse backgrounds," explained Lanette Stuckey, Dean of Nursing at Lakeview and one of the event's organizers. She said, "It will provide a great, in-person and local opportunity for continuing education."

Stuckey hopes the event will have a broad appeal that will be of interest to anyone working in healthcare. "We are hoping to not only have nurses and future nurses in attendance, but would love to also have others from many different healthcare fields join us."
