Identify wild edibles and learn about their historic medicinal uses. Walks will be held from 2-4 p.m. rain or shine. $20/person, $15 for Friends of the VIC. Join "Truly Wild" instructor Pat Banker from Cornell Cooperative Extension Franklin County after the walk for a recipe swapping session and a look through her collection of wild edible plant ID books. Sunday, July 5 – VIC Independence Day Star-Spangled Banner Trail Run

Wear your red, white and blue to one of our featured events: 20K trail run, 10K trail run, 5K run/walk or a 1K youth run. 10 a.m. $25 for adults, $10 for kids up to 17 in the 5K, 1K Free. Wednesday, July 8 and 22 – Summer Fun Trail Run Series

The VIC and High Peaks Cyclery are hosting a series of trail runs and mountain bike races on alternating Wednesday evenings through the summer. Series prizes will be awarded at the Fall Foliage Ramble on Saturday, Oct. 10. $5/person. Registration for each race is at 6 p.m. Races start at 6:30 p.m. Other dates: Aug. 5 & 19; Sept 2.

Sunday-Saturday, July 12-18 – Invasive Species Awareness Week

Join us at the VIC for interpretive walks and discussions about the spread of invasive species around the Adirondacks. Daily naturalist-led walks will be co-led by members of the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program and the Adirondack Watershed Institute.

Friday, July 24 – Body, Breath & Being Yoga Retreat

This retreat, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., will promote physical, mental and spiritual health. Yoga sessions, breath work, meditation and unstructured time in a natural environment will support your self-inquiry as you let go of the details of daily life and discover the peace and connectivity of unencumbered being. Monday, July 27 – Shakespeare in the Park

The Adirondack Center for the Arts will perform "Love's Labor's Lost" at 7 p.m. Friends of the VIC are invited for a wine and cheese party.

Daily – Interpretive Nature Walks

Explore the flora, fauna and ecology of the Adirondack Park with a naturalist every day from 1-2 p.m. until Labor Day. $10/person. Free for Friends of the VIC.

Mondays and Wednesdays – Yoga On the Deck

Unify with nature during this outdoor yoga class and intensify your experience. Participate in Sun Salutations while actually reaching for the sun. Enjoy a stunning playlist courtesy of the birds and the breeze. Feel rooted while holding tree pose in the forest. 9-10:15 a.m. Same-day drop-in fee is $15. Prepay for up to six classes for $13, seven to 13 classes for $12 and 14 to 20 classes for $10. Open to all abilities. Bring a mat and large towel. Additional classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday through Sept.2.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – Interpretive Canoe Paddles
