Upcoming Workshop to Assist High School Students with Career Selection

CANTON, NY (04/15/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Canton will host an event designed to help high school juniors and seniors determine their future career paths.

A "Choosing Your Major" workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in Wicks Hall, Room 006. Participants will be asked to complete a self-directed search (SDS) questionnaire, which evaluates individual vocational preferences. Consultants will be on hand to help students interpret the results and explore possible career opportunities.

"It has been shown that high schoolers who complete the SDS demonstrate increased career certainty, greater self-awareness and a better understanding of their vocational interests," said SUNY Canton Psychology Assistant Professor and Event Coordinator Desiree LeBoeuf-Davis, Ph.D.

The workshop fee is $30 per person, which includes lunch. Participants will also receive a copy of their SDS report. To register for the event, visit http://www.canton.edu/choose/.
