Join us from 5:30-7 p.m. to talk about upcoming events and activities. Bring a dish to pass and a place setting. We will meet for hors d'oeuvres at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 17 – Armchair Traveler Lecture Series
Join us at 7 p.m. and learn about distant places from people who've been there. Talk topic to be announced. $5/person, free for Friends of the VIC and volunteers.
Friday, Dec. 18 – Owl Prowl
Join a naturalist for a snowshoe walk in search of owls at 7 p.m. Participants will learn about their call notes as well as their natural history. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp to help guide your way. Snowshoes available to rent. $10/person, $5 for Friends of the VIC. Preregister by 5 p.m. the day before.
Saturday, Dec. 26 – Snowshoe with a naturalist
Learn about the natural wonders of winter with VIC naturalist Brian McAllister. 10 a.m. to noon. Topics include animal tracking, winter birding and winter survival. Meet in the VIC building. Snowshoes required; rentals are available. $20/person, $10 for Friends of the VIC or season-pass holders (includes pass fee). Preregistration required by 5 p.m. the day before.
Sunday, Dec. 27 – Volunteer Training: Animal Tracking
Join naturalist Brian McAllister from 1-3 p.m. and learn about animal tracking on the VIC trails.
Monday, Jan. 4 – Tracking workshop
Susan Morse, a nationally known naturalist, wildlife biologist and photographer, will lead a workshop on animal tracking from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. $25/person. Preregister by 5 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 4 – Animals of the North
Join Susan Morse, a nationally known naturalist, wildlife biologist and photographer, for a talk titled "Animals of the North, What will Global Climate Change Mean to Them?" 7-8:30 p.m. $10/person.
