Saturday, Sept. 10 – Guided Naturalist Walk

Join us on a guided walk at 1 p.m. and learn about nature in the Adirondack Park. Free for Friends of the VIC. $10 for nonmembers.

Saturday, Sept. 10 – VIC Photo Shoot Out

Invited local photographers spent four days taking photos of the VIC's 3,000-acre landscape. Their photos will remain on display until Sept. 30. Visit http://www.paulsmiths.edu/vic/photo-shoot-out/ to submit your own photos of the VIC's landscape.

Saturday, Sept. 17 and 24 – Morning Bird Walk

Join guides John and Pat Thaxton from 9-11 a.m. on a walk in search of summer birds that are setting up nesting territory, singing and showing off their mating displays. $20/person, $15 for Friends of the VIC. Free for Warblers.

Saturday, Sept. 17 – Mushroom Walk

Join mushroom expert Susan Hopkins at 10 a.m. as she searches for mushrooms and fungi. We will discuss and identify poisonous and edible species and point out some of medicinal value, too. Bring a lunch if you want to stay longer to use Hopkins' books and reference materials for further study. $20/person, $15 for Friends of the VIC.

Saturday, Oct. 8 – Topo-Shift 3: Woods Way

Join us at 7 p.m. for an artist reception with Winn Rea. Her process-based art addresses environmental themes in sculpture, video installation and works on paper. In this series of three-dimensional topographic contour reliefs with painted natural forms found in cast shadows, the artist explores "the perceptual shift experienced while moving through the woods." Her work is currently on display and will remain until Wednesday, Oct. 26.
