Upper Crust Bakers Take Top State Fair Awards

DES MOINES, IA (08/11/2018) (readMedia)-- Iowa's best bread bakers were put to the test in the King Arthur Flour competition, judged on Thursday at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

Charlie Baumhover of Indianola won First Place Overall and a $200 gift card. David Coziahr of Council Bluffs earned Second Place Overall and a $150 gift card. Louise Piper of Garner claimed Third Place Overall and a $75 gift card.

Marianne Carlson earned the Sweepstakes award. Carol Shafer of Norwalk, Jeffrey King of Newton and Charlie Baumhover each shared the Reserve Sweepstakes award.

Entries were judged on flavor, appearance and texture.
