Upstate NY Farm announces Job Fair for Fall Season

SCHAGHTICOKE, NY (06/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Amidst bad economic news on jobs, one local upstate farm announces Job Fair.

Liberty Ridge Farm has been a staple in the community for 12 years and and in these times they are able to offer much needed jobs to the local community. "We all want to hear some good news right now and providing local jobs is good news, we couldn't have done it without the communities support over these past years." said Cynthia Gifford, Owner of Liberty Ridge Farm. "With all the early rain in the season we see our Blueberries and Raspberries ripening early, so we are in need of Berry pickers immediately, we see this as a good sign for the beginning of our 12th season."

The Liberty Ridge Farm market has seen an increase in demand over the past few years it has grown from just berries into offering a larger selection of produce and vegetables. "We saw an increase in demand for more variety and we wanted to keep up with the demand" Said Cynthia Gifford.

Summer employment positions on the farm start on July 8th for Blueberry Pickers. A berry picker can make as much as they like based on how much they pick, typically up to $10 an hr. Liberty Ridge Farm Market offers Pick your own blueberries and raspberries along with the best in local fruit and vegetables! Purchasing farm fresh in-season corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini and peppers offers families a great introduction to eating seasonally. Families can bring their own containers or use one of the farm's to 'pick-your-own' fresh grown blueberries and raspberries by the pound, or buy fresh picked at the Farm Market counter. Local fresh produce will be available through the end of the growing season in late October. Blueberry picking starts mid- July and runs through August. Raspberry picking starts in August and goes until the first frost.
