STAUNTON, VA (05/12/2011)(readMedia)-- So you're a city dweller and you want to grow your own vegetable garden? The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department will be offering the class, Urban Vegetable Gardening, which will be taught by Jeff Ishee of Virginia Farming and Staunton Farmer's Market fame. The class will be Mondays, May 16 and May 23rd from 6-8pm at Montgomery Hall Park Activity Room in Staunton. If you have an area in your yard that gets sunshine most of the day (6-8 hours in summer) then you can have a vegetable garden. The most important requirements are sunshine and watering. Jeff will cover soil, seeds, water, fertilizer, weeding and harvesting in this class. The price of the two meeting class is $24. For more information call 332-3945.
