Utica-Based New York National Guard Soldiers Return to United States After Guantanamo Bay Duty

LATHAM, NY (06/14/2012)(readMedia)-- The 170 Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard's 107th Military Police Company have arrived back in the United States after a 10 month tour of duty at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay.

The Soldiers arrived at Fort Bliss, Texas today. They will conduct out processing there before returning to New York .

The 107th was assigned to Joint Task Force Guantanamo and provided security for the military detention facilities at the base.

The Military Police Soldiers mobilized in June 2011 for one year of federal active duty.

The company is headquartered in Utica, but the Soldiers come from across the state. The Soldiers are currently expected to be back home in New York by June 23.
