AIKEN, SC (11/07/2017) The University of South Carolina Aiken Veterans and Military Student Success Center and the student body's Veteran Student Organization will host the third annual Veterans Day BBQ, on Nov. 10 at 4:30 p.m., on the grounds of the university's convocation center. The public is invited to this event.

Congressman Joe Wilson and Senator Tom Young are expected to participate in the official ceremonies. Representatives from the Aiken Augusta Wounded Warrior Charity Golf Classic are expected to make a generous donation to the university, which will be used to support a study on the effects of PTSD on veteran students.

"This event is held annually to honor our military students as well as all veterans," said Robert Franklin, a Navy veteran who is president of the USC Aiken VSO.

While the event features free activities for the entire family, tickets for the BBQ dinner are $15.

The BBQ dinner festivities kick off at 4:30 p.m., but related free activities start at 2 p.m. These free events include: a car show, the opportunity to give blood to the Shepeard Community Blood Bank, on-site chair massages, a bouncy house for kids, and events related to the university's Nation American Heritage Month observance.
