Victory Christian Church Donates Park

Arbor Hill Park Receives Funding

ALBANY, NY (01/14/2015)(readMedia)-- For the last 10 years Victory Christian Church has been feeding children in an old broken down park on Oak and Third St. in Arbor Hill behind the Albany Police Department located at 165 Henry Johnson Blvd in Albany. The park had been abandoned with broken down equiptment busted up black top and to say it was a hazard was an understatement. Victory decided to take some action and purchesed two lots from the county that ran down the middle of the park. The church took down the broken down equiptment and put in picnic tables during the summer months to feed local children. Two years ago the Albany police beat cops began talking to one of the girls who was working at the park feeding children during the summer feeding program. Chelsie Muller was assigned to the park and shared with the two officers how much they needed to get this park built for the children in the area. The two officers and Pastor Charlie got together and decided to work together and make this dream come true. With a 20,000 dollar grant from Bimbo's Bakery the work began. Last year Pastor Charlie cleared the land and seeded the park but with limited funds it still was not enough to finish the park.

Exciting news with additional funding from the work of Danny Biez his partner and the Victory Christian Church the Park will be compleated this summer. This week the Victory Christian Church transfered ownership to the city and tomorrow Jan. 15th. at 200 Henry Johnson Blvd. at 10 A.M. in the Albany Community Development Agency building. the city will anounce their plans to finish and open the park for city children.

The dream for Chelsie Muller will come true and this summer she will enjoy feeding children in a fully operating park at the Oak St. site. Chelsie is now in college and her sister who works with her during the summer months will be at the event to witness this great moment.
