Villa Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

Carthage College defensive end Gabe Villa added yet another weekly honor to his name after his huge game against North Park this past Saturday, as he was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week Tuesday morning.

Villa was a force at the defensive front for the Red Men, helping keep the North Park offense to 181 total yards, including just two yards rushing. The junior set career marks in four major categories, total tackles, tackles for a loss, sacks and forced fumbles.

On the first two defensive series for Carthage, Villa recorded three sacks, and three forced fumbles. The Naperville, Ill. native would strip the ball from the visitors once again near the end of the first quarter, this time on a run play up the middle.

He would finish the game with five total tackles, five tackles for a loss, three sacks, and four forced fumbles.

This is the second time a member of the Red Men has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week this season, with Kevin O'Boyle earning the honor on September 10.
