WAMC REACHES ITS $1.25 MILLION GOAL

ALBANY, NY (02/05/2026) (readMedia)-- WAMC/Northeast Public Radio has successfully achieved its goal of raising $1.25 million in its February 2026 Fund Drive. After just three and a half days, our community, staff and volunteers closed out a wildly successful drive – this time with a new model that allowed for reaching needed revenue goals while continuing to air programming – keeping public media and independent journalism strong in our region – and on-air continuously.

Supporters responded with over 6,000 pledges to WAMC, helping to keep WAMC listener-supported. Award-winning news and community programming are broadcast to parts of seven states, and published online to audiences around the world.

"We are grateful to our listeners for coming along with us for a new Fund Drive model – and for ensuring we march on in 2026 in support of free speech, fair and transparent reporting, and independent journalism," said President & CEO Sarah Gilbert.

"Our listeners clearly understand how vital they are to our mission – we are thrilled to be able to continue programming while also bringing in our vital revenue goals" said Lizzie Honan, WAMC's new Chief Development Officer.

WAMC Fund Drives occur three times a year: in February, June, and October. Our success would not be possible without the generous support of our underwriters, our sponsors, our volunteers and our members. This is a full-community effort, and we are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our community partners – this drive, we featured the excellent work of Animal Protective Foundation, Community Access to the Arts, and the Food Pantries for the Capital District.

Each drive's goal is to support the general operations of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. WAMC broadcasts the highest-quality programs from NPR, American Public Media, and the BBC World Service, as well as a wide range of award-winning local programming.
