POTSDAM, NY (07/28/2014)(readMedia)-- Allison Piper Wall of Katy, Texas, chief operating officer of Spark Energy, has received the Woodstock Award from her alma mater, Clarkson University.

Given each year during Reunion Weekend, the Woodstock Award honors young alumni who have demonstrated outstanding loyalty and service to Clarkson and the Alumni Association and who have used their Clarkson experience to make a notable contribution to their careers.

Allison Piper Wall received her bachelor of science degree in industrial hygiene and environmental toxicology from Clarkson in 1994. She is also a graduate of the Clarkson School, Clarkson's early college entrance program.

While at Clarkson, Wall was a founding member of the Clarkson University student section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. She was a member of Sigma Gamma Phi sorority and served as treasurer. Wall earned a master of science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996.

Upon graduation, she opened the New Orleans office of an industrial hygiene consulting firm with headquarters in Houston, Texas. Wall provided environmental and occupational health consulting to chemical, petroleum refining and manufacturing companies.

Wall attended business school on a full scholarship, earning an MBA degree from Tulane University in 2000, during which she changed careers to the electricity industry.

Wall has worked in the restructured retail electricity and natural gas industry for 15 years. She moved into management positions at Reliant Energy and then served as vice president at Gexa Energy and as vice president, residential at Champion Energy Services.

In 2010, Wall served as chief operating officer for StarTex Power, a retail electricity provider based in Houston. Wall then joined Spark Energy, a national retail energy company active in both electricity and natural gas competitive markets, as its Chief Operating Officer. She continues to serve in this role and is responsible for overseeing the company's operations.

Wall is active in several volunteer roles. She is on the board of directors of the Gulf Coast Power Association and is a founding member of their emPOWERing Women program. She also assists with Clarkson alumni events in Houston and is working to start a new alumni chapter. She also serves on the board of directors of her homeowner's association and volunteers time in the public school system.

Originally from Katy, Texas, Wall still resides there with her husband and daughter.
