MORRISTOWN, NJ (02/20/2013)(readMedia)-- The College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE) has appointed Jonathan White of Watchung, N.J., as the new vice president of enrollment management. CSE is located at 2 Convent Road, Morristown, N.J.

"I am excited to be part of the College of Saint Elizabeth family," says White. "The College has a long history of academic excellence, and I am looking forward to working with a great staff to increase enrollment and improve retention. Together, we will find new and innovative ways to meet the challenges facing higher education today."

White brings to his new position a commitment to liberal arts education, saying, "In today's complex global world, a liberal arts degree is more important than ever. A person must be able to think and adapt to an ever-changing environment. A liberal arts education not only prepares students to be critical thinkers, it also teaches them how to learn. By studying a broad range of subject matter, students are exposed to a world of possibilities and insights that they may not otherwise have realized even existed. Learning different diverse subject matter trains one's mind to think crucially, promotes organized understanding, and allows a person to adapt to various situations."

Prior to joining CSE, White served as chief enrollment officer at the state University of New York Maritime College, Throggs Neck, N.Y., where he increased enrollment buy 35 percent. He began his career at SUNY Maritime as dean of admissions in 2008 where he created a student ambassador program, began recruiting internationally, and implemented a marketing and advertising campaign for admissions including the creation of a web site. He was elected by the 64 presidents of SUNY institutions to lead the Council of Chief Enrollment Officers with the goal of improving recruitment and retention throughout the SUNY system.

In addition to his work at SUNY Maritime, White has served as director of undergraduate admissions at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and as senior associate director of admissions at Marymount University in Arlington, Va.

Currently, White is working toward his Ed.D with a concentration in higher education administration from Northeastern University, Boston. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Marymount University and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Bates College, Lewiston, Me.
