LOCK HAVEN, PA (04/27/2012)(readMedia)-- A group of student volunteers from Lock Haven University turned Friday the 13th into a "good luck" day for local trails and streets. In an event organized by Danielle Yarnell and Leanna Walker of the LHU MountainServe Center for Global Citizenship, the students got together to pick up trash and brush on the trail behind the LHU lacrosse fields so that other students could utilize it. The volunteers went on the trail and later went downtown to do some cleanups on the streets and at triangle Park.
Among the students participating in the cleanup was Stroudsburg resident Wayne Fraser.
Altogether, the small group of students collected ten trash bags of bottles, to-go containers, plastic objects, cigarette butts, and glass.
When the event was over, Ms. Walker commented, "I was really proud of all the volunteers. They were all very motivated. The students were going beyond my expectations."
