Waynetown Resident Anna Zull Earns Prestigious Gilman Scholarship for Study Abroad

EVANSVILLE, IN (12/21/2011)(readMedia)-- The University of Evansville is proud to recognize Anna Zull as its most recent winner of the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.

Zull, a Spanish major from Waynetown, Indiana, will study abroad next spring through Butler University's Institute for Study Abroad at the Universidad Nacional in Heredia, Costa Rica. There, she will pursue coursework in Spanish literature, culture, and language.

The Gilman International Scholarship is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE). The Gilman Scholarship Program seeks to diversify U.S. students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go. Specifically, the Gilman program offers scholarships to highly qualified student populations that have been traditionally underrepresented in education abroad.

Last month, IIE named the University of Evansville one of the nation's top master's degree-granting institutions for study abroad participation, with approximately half of graduates studying abroad during their time on campus. At the University of Evansville, international education is at the heart of the institutional core purpose: to provide life-transforming experiences that prepare students to engage the world as informed, ethical, and productive citizens.
