Vickie L. Weaver, director of Public Safety, was sworn in as the 56th President of IACLEA on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (07/15/2013)(readMedia)-- Vickie L. Weaver, director of Public Safety, was sworn in as the 56th President of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) on Monday, July 2, 2013, during the IACLEA Annual Conference & Exposition. Weaver has served on the IACLEA Board of Directors since 2006, serving two terms as the Mid Atlantic Regional Director and as President Elect this past year.

Weaver is the fifth female president of the professional service organization, which advances campus public safety for its more than 1,200 educational institution members and 2,000 individual members. Weaver was sworn in by outgoing President Anne P. Glavin, chief of police and director of police strategies at California State University Northridge in Northridge, California, marking the first time that two consecutive females have served as president.

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve IACLEA in a leadership role," said Weaver. "The network IACLEA provides allows members to discuss and share best practices for promoting safety on campus, something vital to campus public safety officers responsible for protecting the millions of college students attending thousands of colleges and universities -- a commitment we take very seriously," explained Weaver.

Weaver began her career with Rider in 1986 as a senior officer and was promoted to director in 1993. She is responsible for the 24/7 public safety of two campuses, coordinates the University's emergency preparedness and response, serves on several University committees, and has also served as an adjunct instructor.

Prior to Rider University, she served five and a half years active duty with the U.S. Army as a military police officer and investigator. She continued to serve with the U.S. Army Reserves in various assignments, retiring in 2004.

Weaver is a long time active member and past president of NJ CUPSA (New Jersey College and University Public Safety Association), and received the NJ CUPSA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. In 2005, she earned her CPP (Certified Protection Professional) certification from ASIS International (ASIS), the preeminent organization dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals. Weaver also served on the 2007 New Jersey Campus Security Task Force, and has made presentations locally and regionally on various topics related to campus law enforcement.

Weaver received a BA in Art Education from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, and an MA, with Distinction, in Human Services Administration from Rider University.
